Dr. Godwin joined the GSSM faculty in the fall of 1998. He teaches Introductory Physics, Modern Physics and an independent study in the spring. Dr. Godwin is a board member for the National Consortium for Specialized Secondary Schools of Mathematics, Science and Technology, coaches the GSSM volleyball team and is an active supporter of the Junior Classical League and the Ultimate Club.

Prior to coming to GSSM, Dr. Godwin was a visiting scientist at the Institut de Physique Nucleaire in Orsay, France. From his research in nuclear physics, he has published a half-dozen papers and given a number of invited talks, conference presentations and seminars. In the realm of hobbies, he is a volleyball player and enjoys ultimate frisbee and mountain biking.
