The South Carolina Governor's School for Science and Mathematics (GSSM) is pleased to announce that Dr. Donald Schunk and L. Dwight Floyd, Jr. have been appointed to the school's board of trustees.

Schunk, one of the state's leading economists, is a research economist at Coastal Carolina University, where he tracks, analyzes and forecasts national and state economic conditions.

"Our Board is genuinely excited by the appointment of Mr. Floyd and Dr. Schunk," said Dr. Murray Brockman, GSSM president.

"Not only is (Floyd) practicing law in areas critical for economic development, he is the first GSSM alum to serve on our Board.  Dr. Schunk's appointment also is especially timely, since we will be building our new Institute for Economics and his contacts and expertise will enable him to provide very insightful guidance."

In addition to the newly appointed board members, the following board members were re-appointed: Dr. Leroy Davis, executive director of the Center for Excellence at Voorhees College, Asa Godbold president of Godbold Construction Co. in Florence and Dr. Richard N. Chapman, provost at Francis Marion University.
